Eden Lake - *jaw dropping*-

Some time ago I won a copy of Eden Lake from Freddy in Space (my favorite horror blog) and having two months off after my recent surgeries I had some time to watch it finally. As much as I love horror movies I am also a complete chicken and can't watch really good ones alone at night since I live in an old noisy apartment building and have an overactive imagination. Normal people hear a noise and realize it's the pipes or neighbors using the bathroom. I hear that noise and become convinced that there's someone in the ceiling about to do horrible things to me and my corpse. Yeah, I'm weird.

Anyways, back on topic.... Eden Lake is about a couple who stay out in the wilderness for a weekend and the everything that happens to these poor people while they are there. It's vaguely in the vein of Last House on the Left but not really, that's just the best comparison I could come up with. I love this movie!!! It's the first movie where I have done absolutely nothing but watch, I have a very hard time sitting still and only doing one thing so this is saying alot. (At the moment I'm blogging, on facebook and watching Burn Notice.) I think what I loved the most about Eden Lake is that it is so utterly realistic. The teens in the movie actually look and act like the ones you see hanging out in the mall not like the belong on Gossip Girl. And everyone in this movie can act!! I want to say more but I don't want to give anything away about it but I think that if I wasn't shocked by the actions of some of the characters I probably would have cried. It's one of those movies that leaves you sitting staring at the screen in a state of disbelief. Amazing.

Needless to say, if you like horror or suspense movies you NEED to watch Eden Lake. Watch it, rent it, borrow it, etc.

Fright Night, Dexter, bleh.........

So on my almost 2 month doctor ordered vacation from work I rediscovered my local library. Since I havn't had a paycheck in a while it's a nice free (or very cheap) place to waste time. Started reading the Dresden Files & Anita Blake series & got totally addicted. The Anita Blake comics suck ass but at least the Dresden ones are decent. Speaking of comics, since I need to eat & have a place to live I have been unable to pick up my books for the past 2 months. Fucking sucks. I've got an extra 30$ so I'm going to & pick up Uncanny, Fables & GL sometime this weekend. Everyhing else will have to wait. Speaking of Green Lantern, I really like Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, I think Bradley Cooper could have been better but I'm not complaining.
Also thanks to my awesome library I finally got to watch Dexter. OMG I finally understand how people can be so into it. It;s fucking amazing!!! I'm 2 episodes into to season 2 at the moment, will probably watch episode 3 after Fright Night is over. Still have to watch the Strangers & Eden Lake. The latter which I won from my favorite horror site Freddy in Space.

I'm a big nerd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been playing a ton of games lately cause my life if just sooo full of excitement lately. :-p Restarted City of Heroes/Villains again which is fun as usual but I spend more time creating characters than I do playing them. I always seems to have a problem with alts in any game I play. Also started playing Free Realms, which for being a game geared to kids is pretty damn entertaining. Mini games and pirates puppies are fun! Can't remember how exactly I came across Champions Online but I remember reading about it ages & ages ago. It looks pretty damn cool, as similar to CoX as it may be. Applied to the beta so cross your fingers for me please!!

You are pure evil, and hate personified. You don't care anything about your fellow man, and are guided only by your desire to rule over your inferiors, i.e. everybody but you. 'Mercy,' you ask, prior to grinding an enemy beneath your mighty heel, 'What is mercy?'

Take the quiz!

WTF DC?!?!

Just like tons of other people the currently fucked up economy has had a negative effect on my financial situation. I don't have the excess money to spend on non-essentials like I used to so it pisses me off even more when that money gets wasted. I've seriously cut back on my pull list & I'm irritated enough to start cutting back even more now.
I don't like being forced to pay for comics I don't want. With DC putting that stupid Power Girl story into every comic I picked up is really freaking annoying! Why not use the space to extend the story of the comic I actually wanted to read? If I cared about Power Girl & her mammoth chesticles I'd read JSA but I don't. Nothing annoys me more than to be excited about the length of a comic I spent my dwindling funds on only to find out that half the book is an Advertisement!?!?!?! Is this DCs version of not rasing their prices?
Oh yeah, picked up the new Flash book & thought it was great (other than the infomercial). Only thing that is still bugging me is Barry Allen's magic shirt. While he is in the Flash mueseum with Hal Jordan his shirt changes from white to red. Honestly, if the pages hadn't been facing each other I probably wouldn't have noticed. I'm just being irritable I guess.

For the first time in a long time I loved an X-Men comic. Uncanny X-Men #508 made me a very very happy girl. Next issue has Psylocke on the cover & I am so looking forward to it that it's a little sad.

Meme!!!!

I was tagged some time ago by Continually Spicy over at THIS IS WHY I HATE YOU & I'm finally getting around to filling it out.

First the rules:
1) Link to the person who tagged you.
2) Post the rules on your blog.
3) Write six random things about yourself.
4) Tag six people at the end of yer post and link to them
5) Let each of the six persons know they've been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6) Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Here it goes, try to contain your excitement. ;-)
1. I hoard pop rocks. It's a sick, strange addiction that netted me 64 packs on my birthday alone.

2. I spent one horrible weekend as a model at a Comic Book Convention before being fired cause I wouldn't sleep with the married piece of shit artist. I will not say who he or the company was because they both crashed & burned a long long time ago.

3. The music on my laptop consists of only country & black metal.

4. Vampires are cool but Zombies are a billion times better & they don't fucking sparkle.

5. Avocados are gross & so is guacamole.

6. I would totally be a Sith Lord if I could.

Since I'm lame & don't really comment on any blogs other then the one mentioned above I'm just going to list some blogs/sites that I regularly lurk at.

Disney Zombies

Living Between Wednesdays

Benevolent Street

The Nethernet

Cake Wrecks

Chris's Invincible Super-Blog

not dead

I havn't fallen off the face of the earth just broke as hell & don't have anyone to borrow internet from. Be back soon!

p.s. WTF is with Huntress's outfit? She looks like all those "bad girls" that were so popular in comics like 10 years ago. Horrible.

I do not fear hell for I work in retail

As you can ascertain from the title above I work in retail but not in sales, my job is all behind the scenes. So lucky me I get to wear a uniform of sorts that identifies where I work. (I promise this is going somewhere.) I've been a little under the weather for the last couple weeks so I finally decided to go the doctor & left from work for the appointment. After a fairly brief wait I get into the room with the nurse & take off my coat so she can her thing. Upon seeing my work shirt she asks if I worked at the one down the street. I reply no, I don't work in just one store I travel but I was in that store today. The lovely nurse then proceeds to unload how much she hates that store, why she hates that store and what she thinks of it's employees. Um ok.... where did I say that I owned the store or had any type of power? I'm sick as hell can I please just see the doctor & be on my way? Why do people assume that if you work retail your only job is to kiss their ass? I hate the fact that I normally have to wait anywhere from 1 to 2 hours in the waiting room for my appointment but do I bitch & moan to you about it? I once had bad food from McDonald's but does that meant that I complain about to every single McDonald's about it?? No! ARGH!!!! Just because I work in retail doesn't mean that I'm less of a person than you.

Speaking of retail, my favorite comic guy at the comic shop moved away this week. It's weird how someone you think has such a small part of your life can make such an impact by not being there. I no longer have someone that gets as excited as I do by seeing minor characters resurface. No one to talk fables/jack of fables with. I switched to my current store after being helped by him one time. He is awesome & never recommended a comic I didn't like. Sadness. I will miss him. :-(

Havn't really been all that excited by the last couple weeks of comics. Random thoughts on them - I am really liking Guardians of the Galaxy. Couldn't they find a better person for Osbornes Avengers to fight? The Polaris cover is hot but let her kick more ass please. When is the next Old Man Logan coming out?!?!?! Getting impatient over here.
